Make a Snowman on a Stick from Marshmallows

snowman craft with marshmallows

Here's how to make a snowman on a stick, using marshmallows and candy. Kids can make three and package them in cellophane for a fun snowman gift to give at Christmas time.

You'll Need

  • Wooden skewers
  • White marshmallows
  • Jelly sweets
  • Edible paper (from craft or cake-decorating shops)
  • Food coloring
  • Licorice sticks
  • Fruit candy in long bendy strips
  • Small colored candies
  • Toothpicks

  • Making Your Snowman

    1. Push a skewer through 3 marshmallows, then through a circle cut from edible paper, then a jelly sweet (look at the snowman picture above and the close-up below).
    2. Use a toothpick dipped in food coloring to paint a smiling face onto your snowman.
    3. Poke holes in the marshmallows with a toothpick and push small candies in for the buttons and small pieces of licorice stick for the arms.
    4. Use a tiny triangle cut from orange edible paper to make the carrot nose. Push it into a hole made with a toothpick.
    5. Cut his scarf from a strap of candy. Snip the ends to make tassels, and tie it around his neck.
Your snowmen need to be eaten soon or else kept in an airtight container or bag so they don't dry out.
    Decorate each snowman differently.

Make three snowmen and package them in a cellophane bag to give as a winter gift.
