Make this spiny sea urchin as kids party food. It looks impressive.
No cook recipes are great for kids. This one can be made by children aged 3 years and up (with help for the little ones).
The best kids crafts are the ones they can eat afterwards!
Sea Urchin Party Nibbles
To Make your Party Food, You'll Need:
An orange
Toothpicks
Sultanas or raisins
Red glacé cherries
How to Make It:
1. Cut one end off an unpeeled orange so that it will sit on a plate without rolling. (An adult should do this.)
2. Take a toothpick and poke it through two sultanas, then a red glacé cherry. Now stick the end with the cherry into the orange, leaving the uncovered end of the toothpick poking outwards.
3. Repeat, using more toothpicks, until the whole orange is covered.
You now have a spiny sea urchin which will be delicious to eat.
Try making a hedgehog or a porcupine instead. You may need to add another fruit for the head, and join them with toothpicks. You can also serve this for a kids party.
What else could you put on the toothpicks? Cheese? Pieces of red, yellow, orange and green capsicum? Try out your own ideas. Food crafts are fun!
