Looking for kids' crafts for Christmas? Personal decorations mean far more than the most expensive bought ones. These are the best idea we've come across. They cost so little, and your kids will enjoy the annual tradition of making them together. Who knows, they might start the same tradition with their kids!
Personalised Christmas Tree Decorations.
Make these before Christmas every year as your children grow. In the years to come, you'll treasure them.
What you'll need:
Sequins in different colours and shapes.
Gold ribbon
A small photo of each of your children
White glue or Mod Podge
Gold acrylic paint
Gold glitter
Cardboard
Scissors
Pencil, black marker pen
Hole punch
Plastic cup
What to do:
Place the plastic cup upside down on the cardboard, and draw around it to make circles. Make one for each child. Get the kids to cut them out.
Find a suitable object to draw around, and make a small circle on each child's photograph, around the child's face. Cut around the circles.
Get the kids to paint one side of the cardboard circles with gold acrylic paint. Leave to dry. Paint a second coat. When they're dry, repeat for the other side.
Once they've dried again, kids can place their photo in the centre of one of the gold circles, and draw around it with a pencil. Remove the photo.
Now kids should squeeze white glue in patterns around the edges of the photo, and then sprinkle with gold glitter. Thick lines of glue work well, and priovide texture. Avoid getting glue in the central circle if possible. If any large blobs end up there, wipe them away.
Now glue sequins on.
Once the front is dry, turn the gold circle over, and write the year on the back with a black marker pen. Decorate around it with glue, glitter and sequins. Leave to dry.
Punch a hole at the top of each decoration, and attach a piece of gold or silver ribbon to hang it by.
Glue the children's photos into the centre of their decorations.
Hang some of your decorations on the Christmas tree. Give others to grandparents, aunts and uncles.
