How to make a Snowflake - for beginners

Here's how to make a snowflake. It's easy and fun.

Use them to decorate cards, windows, and gifts.

Real snowflakes have 6 points, but these 8-pointed ones look great too.

What you'll need:

  • Origami paper squares (big pieces are easiest)
  • Scissors
  • What to do:

    1. Fold a square of paper in half, to make a rectangle, then again to make a square.
    2. Then fold the square in half diagonally to form a triangle, keeping the edges of the paper together.
    3. Cut different shaped pieces out of the edges of the triangle, making sure that where there's a folded edge, you never cut off all of the fold (If you do, it will fall apart). You can cut off whole corners though.

    4. Open out the paper to reveal your creations.

Make cards by gluing your flakes onto coloured paper. You could make different colored snowflakes. How about metalic blue on a black background?

Try designing snowflake gift tags and window decorations.
