Eggs decorated with paper serviette pictures are fun to make. Try buying large hollow eggs and filling them with goodies!
You'll need:
Hollow or solid styrofoam eggs. The hollow ones come in two pieces that fit together.
Mod Podge or diluted white craft glue.
Paper serviettes with Easter motifs.
Scissors
Paint brush
Acrylic paints
What to do:
Open out a paper serviette. If it's multi-layered, take off the top layer of paper with the design on it. Put the lower layers aside. Repeat with a second serviette.
For hollow styrofoam eggs, lay the two halves of your egg on the table. Wrap the serviettes over them to work out how the patterns look best. For solid eggs, sit the egg on a cup or small bowl to support it, and decorate one half at a time.
Paint the outside of one half of the egg with Mod Podge or glue. Lay the paper serviette over it, and press it down, smoothing it out from the centre. Repeat for the second half egg, and leave to dry.
When they're dry, trim around the edges with scissors. If there are any places at the edges where the styrofoam shows, either paint them in a matching colour with acrylic paint, or glue on pieces from another serviette. Do this with the gap between the two serviettes if you've used solid eggs.
Paint more Mod Podge or diluted white glue over the serviette, smoothing any wrinkles flat, and gluing the edges down well. (It will look white, but it dries clear.)
When completely dry, fill your hollow Easter eggs with goodies, or set solid eggs into a basket with straw and goodies. They make great Easter gifts.
Try an all-over pattern, or a design with one large picture in the centre. How about using a plain colour for the background, then cutting lots of small pictures out of another serviette (Easter chicks, pictures of eggs, etc...) and gluing them on.
You could write someone's name on with a silver pen.
How about an all-over design, and a ribbon tied around afterwards.
