Solid Sand Sculptures
What you'll need:
Large old saucepan
4 cups of sand
2 cups of cornflour
2 cups of water
Old wooden spoon or strong stick for stirring
What to do:
Put sand, cornflour and water into the saucepan and mix well.
Cook over moderate heat, stirring, until it thickens. Take off the heat.
Leave until cool.
Once cool, tip the mixture onto newspaper outside, and use it to make sand sculptures. Leave to dry, and it will set hard.
Make sculptures of sea creatures - whales, starfish, an octopus, or an eel.
You could decorate your sculptures with shells, or with the flattened glass marbles used for decorating. Once the model has dried, lift any that are loose, and glue them in with white craft glue.
Make a sand-fortress, or a pirate ship.
Think of your own ideas. Use your imagination and make something extraordinary!
