Collage Making
Collage is a cheap activity with endless scope for creativity. Sit down beside your kids and try it yourself!
What You'll Need
Old magazines
White computer or construction paper
Glue
Scissors
How to Make the Crazy People
Look through the magazines and cut out pictures of people, as well as any other interesting pictures you see. Look for different textures, people's hair and facial features, flowers, food, vegetables, bottles, and anything else you fancy.
Arrange some of the pictures together to make unusual-looking characters. You'll have to trim the pictures to fit. You can use photos of hair for the person's hair, and then cut out eyes , nose and mouth, and glue them onto a different background to make the face!
Be humorous - make weird and funny characters! Have a look at the examples below for ideas, but use your imagination to make your own crazy people. The 'woman' above has carrots for arms and legs.
Once you've worked out where all the pieces will fit, glue them onto the white paper.
Once the glue is dry, cut around your fantastic creation. Then glue the whole thing onto colored paper or card.
These are great for making birthday cards. You may find pictures of balloons or flowers for the characters to hold - even a birthday cake! It's sure to make someone smile.
Make crazy animals in the same way.
Make a poster, featuring a crowd of zany characters.
Invite a few of your kids' friends around and make these together. You're sure to have lots of giggles!
