Are you looking for beautiful but easy Christmas tree crafts for children? Or for kids' Christmas activities?
Try these. Kids love working with anything shiny. Although simple, these stars and wreaths look stunning.
Jeweled Christmas Stars and Wreaths
For this Christmas Tree Craft, You'll Need:
An assortment of plastic craft jewels in different colours and shapes (buy from a craft shop).
Gold or silver ribbon
White glue or Mod Podge
Acrylic paints in gold and silver
Firm cardboard - any colour (cut-down cereal packets will do).
Scissors
Hole punch
Now Make Your Christmas Decorations:
Cut out star or wreath shapes from the cardboard in a size suitable for decorating your Christmas tree.
Paint one side with gold or silver acrylic paint. Leave to dry. Paint a second coat, so that there are no gaps. When they're dry, turn over and repeat for the other side.
Punch a hole at the top of each decoration, and attach a piece of gold or silver ribbon to hang it by.
Now comes the best part. Put all the craft jewels on a plate in the middle of the table. Show the children how to arrange jewels on their stars and wreaths.
Once they've decided how to place them, they can glue them on with Mod Podge or white craft glue. Leave them to set. The glue will dry clear.
Let your children hang their decorations up on the Christmas tree.
Try making crowns and bracelets like those that the 3 kings in the Christmas story might have worn. Kids will love to dress up in them. How about making other shapes?
You could use styrofoam balls, paint them gold, and glue jewels on, then hang them with ribbon from the Christmas tree.
