Looking for a Christmas centerpiece craft kids can make?
Try making this. It's a modern twist on the traditional Christmas tree, and will look stunning as your table centerpiece.
The bells symbolise celebration and the hearts stand for God's love for us.
(Suits kids 8 years and up)
To Make this Centerpiece You'll Need:
3 silver bells
10 plastic craft jewels - red hearts
Piece of twisty willow or any other interesting shaped twig
Green florist's wire
5 shiny pink glass or plastic beads
Clear craft glue
Tealight candle and holder
Pencil
Now Make your Christmas Centerpiece:
Cut five pieces of florist's wire, each about 20cm long. Thread a bead onto the end of each, then twist it around the bead and into a spiral. It's soft, and easy to wist with your hands. Attach the wire to the twig by winding it around and around. Make five of these, and space them out across the twig.
Cut 3 pieces of the florist's wire, each about 20cm long, and thread the end of each through a bell. Twist it to hold the bell, then make a spiral on the end by wrapping around the point of a pencil. Curve the wire as in the photo, and wind it onto the twig too.
Glue the red heart jewels onto the twig in various places. Place them in pairs, one on either side of the twig, sot hat it looks good from both sides.
Put the tealight candle into its holder, and press the twig down hard into the wax until it's held firmly. (Don't light the candle!)
Place your centerpiece in the center of your Christmas table.
You could put different decorations on your centerpiece. How about gluing wrapped chocolates to the branches? If you put 25 of them, it could be an Advent tree. How about adding folded messages to family members?
You could decorate it with stars and pointsettia flowers, and stand it in a small flower pot.
