Decorate a pencil for this cute and clucky chicken craft! Great as an Easter chicken, as a party craft, a home made gift, or just for fun. How about chicken party favors?
What You'll Need for Your Chicken Project
A plain pencil
Clear craft glue suitable for wood and fabric
A yellow pompom
Two small craft eyes
Two chenille sticks or pipecleaners (1 red, 1 yellow)
Orange craft foam
Scissors
A few clothes pegs
Time for some Chicken Fun!
First, spread the fibres of the pompom apart and place a blob of glue in the hole you've made. Push the blunt end of the pencil in as far as you can and rotate the pencil to spread the glue. Now squeeze the pompom against the pencil and clamp a clothes peg around it. Leave to dry.
Cut the chicken's beak and comb from craft foam and glue into place in the same way. Clamp with clothes pegs and allow the glue to dry.
Cut tiny stars just bigger than the eyes from craft foam and glue into place. Glue the eyes on top and allow to dry.
Spread glue onto the stem of the pencil just below the chicken's head. Wind the centers of the pipecleaners around the pencil several times and form the ends into curls to make the chicken's tail. (Look at the picture above.) Leave to dry.
Think up your own rooster or chicken pattern. Change the colour scheme. Add real chicken feathers! Change the shape of the chicken's comb or its tail. Be original.
Think of other chciken crafts, or other creatures to make as pencil-toppers. Have fun!
